Pseudoceros scintillatus 2

Scientific Name: Pseudoceros scintillatus
Common Name: Scintillating flatworm

Adult Size: 20 – 40 mm
Depth Range: 1 – 20 m; most frequently encountered on shallow coral reefs

Biotope / Habitat: Found gliding over coral heads, reef walls, rubble zones, and algae-covered substrates. Often seen in well-lit reef areas where its colours are most visible.
Diet: Carnivorous; feeds primarily on small sessile invertebrates such as ascidians and other encrusting organisms. Uses chemoreceptors on its underside to detect prey.
Reproduction: Simultaneous hermaphrodite. Like other polyclad flatworms, reproduction involves “penis fencing,” where individuals attempt to inseminate one another; fertilized eggs are laid in small clusters attached to hard substrates.
